The freely available Bi4ce DNN module v. 2.2.3. to display Google Maps does no longer work with the latest versions of the default DotNetNuke portal (3.3.*/ 4.3.*).

The reason for this are the changes that were made to the DNN Membersship structure. The Bi4ce GoMap makes use of the aspnet_profile table. However the new DNN versions no longer seem to make use of this table. Instead a new table was created to save profile data: UserProfile.

Of course there are other ways to make use of the GoMap module, but because of the change to the datastructure of the DNN framework, it's no longer possible with the current GoMap version to automatically load new users onto the Google Map.

Hopefully Bi4Ce will come up with a new upgraded version to match the new DNN structure. For now we've created our own workaround. You can find more details and the script (to create a trigger) at: http://www.dotnetnukes.com

Yes, actually there will be a final version of GoMap (3.0) which will be released prior to the Dotnetnuke:Map project - this will provide a correction to the issues which other users have identifies, and shift the model closer to the DotNetNuke:Map initiative - so that users will be readily able to upgrade from GoMap to DotNetNuke:Map directly. Additionally, the issues with profile information will be completely corrected, and remove the trigger requirements to ease system constraints, as well as improve the overall usability of this information.

Hi Kevin,

From the looks of things the DNN Map module and GoMap 3.0 are no longer being worked on. If this is the case it is apity, but could you at least confirm it so that we can find other alternatives instead of waiting patiently for an answer that may never come? Perhaps we could help if we knew the problem? It would be nice to know either way (I understand if you are busy or it's been canned, just need it confirmed). I am quite happy to pay for this module but it just hangs all browsers now on your demo page.

Thanks
Rodney

Have to agree with Rodney.

It would be a shame if this is called off. But if so please let us know so that we indeed can search for alternatives.

On the other hand, on the map forum of DNN is nothing mentioned about this being called off.

Regards,

Marc
