The GOMap for my third and fourth portal off my DNN instance give me the message that I need to go get a API key f rom Google... even though I have put in the unique key given to me by Google for each of the alias's respectively.

Could it be that my virtual directory setting for those two portal alias's could be a little different thus throwing Google a curve ball??

Maps for my first two portals work fine.

I tried using a fresh config file.  No help.

What would be a way to debug the reason why the api key is not getting properly recognized for those two portals??

Thanks!

What are the actual URL's coming out to in the portals? Google only really requires the Domain Name specific URL to work correctly unless you are using local host.

For instance - if your address is http://www.myportal.com and your child portal is http://www.myportal.com/child they would be able to use the exact same API key, specified for just http://www.myportal.com. However, if you are creating child portals, all with different domain names (like child.myportal.com or www.child.com), you will need seperate API keys.

Luckily, regardless of how many you need, If you want to share the same config file with all portals, you need simply edit the configuration from the domain that is failing, setting the API key for that domain. Meaning, if your domain is failing for child.myportal.com, administer the goMap configuration file through that domain with the API key for that domain. The XML configuration file actually maps the correct API key to the incoming domain, and keeps a log of all the specified keys for all the domains for which that config has been administered.

Does that make sense?

Root Portal:
 alias : www.GodandDeaf.org/hhr
 Google key used: alias

Second Portal:
  alias : www.GodandDeaf.org/ics
  Google key used: alias

Third Portal:
  alias : www.GodandDeaf.org/JVHS77
  Google key used: alias

Fourth Portal:
  alias : www.GodandDeaf.org/CLCG
  Google key used: alias

In each case I used the Google key that results from using the exact portal alias.

Only Root and Second portal maps work.

Third and Fourth portals google says need to have the correct key.

I tried using keys for www.GodandDeaf.org and www.GodandDeaf.org/hhr for third and fourth portals but neither worked as well.

I have a separate config file for each portal since I need a different center point for each.

Third Portal:
alias : www.GodandDeaf.org/JVHS77
Google key used: www.GodandDeaf.org/JVHS77

For example... here is the API section for the broken Third Portal.

Well that did not work to well to copy and paste the XML from the config file into a forum note...
